How to Deactivate (Transfer) a SOLIDWORKS License

Tuesday January 1, 2019 at 12:00pm

A SOLIDWORKS standalone license can only be activated on one machine at a time. If you plan on moving your SOLIDWORKS license to another machine you will first need to deactivate it. Additionally if a standalone license has ended up on multiple machines or you are making a change to your computer, you will need to deactivate the license first. The guide below explains how.

SOLIDWORKS: How to Deactivate a License

View an interactive step by step guide below by pressing the play button below.

For the best experience view the guide full screen click here.

If you prefer the solution is outlined in text below.

1. Open SOLIDWORKS.

2. Once Open, Access Help.

3. Select Deactivate Licenses. For 2015 and before this option is known as Transfer Licenses.

This will load a new window of the SOLIDWORKS Activation Wizard.

4. Select all of the licenses you want to deactivate and if required enter an appropriate email address.

The email Address is not specific; this is only for reference purposes if there is a problem with the activation later.

5. Click next, the deactivation process will start.

6. A Deactivation Succeeded message will show on completion.
