Enhance your SOLIDWORKS Skills
Why DraftSight Training?
DraftSight has a familiar user interface and a minimal learning curve that facilitates an easy transition from your current CAD application. This course assumes you have no or minimal experience of 2D CAD and runs through all the basics needed to get working productively in the software. From understanding the basics of model and sheet space, to drawing and manipulating geometry, the 2 day course aims to give users a good footing in the software on which to build. During the course you will learn:
  • Understanding the user interface and basics of creating drawings.
  • Coordinate systems: entry, boundaries and scale
  • Modifying commands, customising Properties and Layers
  • Advanced commands and functionalities
  • Mastering Drawing Outputs and Layouts
Course Prerequisites
  • None (can use a Windows PC)

Was a well planned course, with aspects explained with case studies, before completing examples to test the new skills learnt. Utkarsh was very helpful, any issues or help with other aspects on Draftsight, he was happy to look into and get back to us with with answers. Also learnt some handy shortcuts and methods of making the interface more personal to make it easier to use.

Overall the course was good, however I feel like it would be better to offer more in person options, we spent a lot of time in the activity sections waiting for other people to finish, in person we may have been able to interact with the instructor more and gain more form the course.
Also, although it is a basics course, it would be good if there was a 'beginners' one and an 'experienced' one. This could provide better support for those who have either never done CAD or used the software but then also mean that people who have used the software have a better opportunity to ask questions based round their experience without taking away from others.

This was my first online training course so I wasn't sure what to expect. Gordon was a great trainer. He was very patient and helpful if you were stuck with something or had any questions. He was always happy to go back over things and constantly made sure everyone was happy with where we were up to.

I found the course good, but also found it difficult being a beginner having not used Draftsight at all. The difficulty was the pace of the sessions, was a little to fast and felt i was behind all the time. A positive though is the handout book, allowed me to do the whole training again offline at my own pace when the session was completed the first time.
