Whenever you need to send a SOLIDWORKS drawing or assembly, you should always Pack & Go the file.
Using the Pack & Go command allows you to collect all related documents into one file to ensure all file references are maintained, protecting against the receiver opening a completely blank file on the other end.
HOW TO PACK & GO SOLIDWORKS FILES
Save yourself some time with this step-by-step guide to creating a Pack & Go:
  - Open SOLIDWORKS.
  - Open the part, drawing or assembly you would like to Pack & Go.
  - Go to File > Pack and Go.

  - Select which associated files are to be included.

  - Check Save to Zip Folder.

  - Select Browse to choose where to save the Zip file and name it appropriately.
  - Select Save.

You can also create a Pack & Go from Windows Explorer with File Utilities. Right click on a SOLIDWORKS file, navigate to SOLIDWORKS in the menu and select Pack & Go.
