Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.
This is a diverse and critical element of the new product development process within Melett. You will be working on multiple live projects from conception to product launch, developing complete Turbo’s and CHRA for the automotive aftermarket.
The role involves taking Original Equipment Turbos, stripping them down to component form and using reverse engineering techniques to produce CAD drawings and manufacturing specifications to allow parts to be manufactured. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing your projects, communicating with Melett UK and overseas sites, as well as regular project updates using the Product Database.
This role will suit an enthusiastic engineer who has an eye for detail and enjoys operating in a diverse fast-moving team focused environment.
Key Tasks:
- Design and development of Turbos and turbocharger components
- Inspection and Measurement of component parts
- Design and completion of 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models
- Hands-on testing and validation of sample parts
Experience Required:
- Mechanical design and development with a good understanding and experience of mechanical assembly
- Good knowledge of 2D or 3D CAD modelling ideally Solid Works and/or AutoCAD
- Knowledge of precision measurement/GD&T and general engineering principles
- Design of high precision parts & assemblies
- Good understanding of following product quality processes
- Working in a Design for Manufacture environment
- Passion for product development & R&D
- Organised, with good planning skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent team working skills
- Self-organised and able to take on multiple tasks and deliver to agreed project milestones
Desirable Experience:
- Appreciation of mechatronic systems
- Previous experience gained in developing rotational machinery
