Our Team Leaders

Martin Gambling
Simulation Group Director
Biography

Martin received his degree in Automotive Engineering from Loughborough University in 1997, specialising in Non-linear impact simulation of Formula 1 structures for his thesis.

Having worked in the field of Computer Aided Engineering since beginning his engineering career, Martin has developed specialisms in non-linear analysis and the application and development of design optimisation methods.

Having worked for several engineering consultancies, in 2003, Martin founded GRM Consulting; a provider of CAE software and services. With his experience and interest in optimisation methods, Martin developed the OptiAssist optimisation tools, providing innovative optimisation solutions for composite laminate design. For 18 of the last 19 seasons the Formula 1™ driver’s champion has driven for a team using OptiAssist.

In 2023, Martin and the GRM business were acquired by TriMech Group.

Our Services and Solutions?

Simulation Services

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Predict the behaviour of a component or assembly under given conditions, typically this is used to understand if a part is safe or if something is going to break or deform.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Simulate and analyse the behaviour of fluid flows. Predict the complex interactions of fluids (liquids and gases) with structures, surfaces, and each other in a various applications.
Electromagnetics
Analyze the behavior of electromagnetic fields in various devices, structures, or systems. Gain insights into the interactions of electric and magnetic fields with surrounding geometry.
Motion Analysis
Accurately simulate and analyse the motion of an assembly while incorporating the effects of motion study elements including forces, springs, dampers, and friction.
Human Ergonomics
Whether you're designing office spaces, facilities, cars, or healthcare environments, we provide the expertise to optimise your designs to prioritise user well-being, comfort, and safety.

Why use our Simulation Solutions Team?

Expertise
Our team is made up of engineers with specialised knowledge in simulation techniques, software, and specific industries. Each consultant brings a wealth of experience, allowing for more accurate modelling and analysis of complex engineering systems.
Cost-Effectiveness
Building and maintaining in-house simulation capabilities can be expensive, especially for projects that require specialized software or expertise. By working with our team, you can reduce the need for in-house resource as well as the need to purchase software.
Access to Advanced Tools
Our team invest in state-of-the-art simulation software and tools. This allows our clients to benefit from the latest advancements in simulation technology without having to make a significant upfront investment.
Objective Perspective
Our team of consultants can provide an unbiased perspective on engineering problems and solutions. By bringing fresh eyes to the project, we can identify issues or opportunities that may have been overlooked.
Risk Mitigation
Simulation allows for "what-if" scenarios to be explored without the need for physical prototypes or real-world testing. By identifying and addressing potential problems early in the design process, simulation can help mitigate risks and reduce the likelihood of costly errors or failures down the line.
Scalability
Our team are able to scale their resources up or down depending on the needs of the project, providing flexibility that may not be possible with an in-house team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What software do we use?
We have the full product portfolios from Dassault Systèmes in Simula & SOLIDWORKS at our disposal. However, we also have other products within the group we can use to further aid validation and offer additional industry specific capabilities.
What solutions do we offer?
We offer simulation consultancy on all our products, but we also offer methods development services and 1 to 1 guidance on a live project. To ensure you get the most out of your software investment. But beyond this we also have chartered engineers that can help bring years of expertise to concept & prototype development, engineering & simulation reviews, fitness-for-service assessments, and failure assessment & re-design.
How can I learn more?
As the range of solutions that our simulation experts can provide is vast, we recommend you get in touch with one of our team to discuss your requirements. Contact your account manager, complete the form to the right or call 01 297 4440.
How to get a quote for a project?
Once we understand the scope of the project, we will then provide an estimate, time scales and a detailed scope work to ensure the deliverables are clear for both parties.

Once the project is complete, we can provide and a detailed report. 3D files that can be viewed on any device and the full simulation data if required.

Speak to one of our simulation team today. Or email us across details of the project. All data will be treated as highly confidential.
Key benefits
Some of the key benefits of simulation include;
  • A shorter time to market – Gain insights into performance earlier into the design process so that you can make changes to reduce the number of prototypes and the amount of physical testing required.
  • Material cost savings – Physical testing tends to be quite conservative and often results in over engineering. Testing a variety of designs virtually can help to create lighter and more efficient parts.
  • Boosting innovation – Virtual testing improves the ease of editing and evaluating your designs providing you the freedom to explore the “What ifs?” and create more innovative designs.
  • Solving the unsolvable – Certain parameters are incredibly difficult to test physically, Simulation allows you to test elements of a design that would be prohibitive in the real world.
  • Integration with SOLIDWORKS CAD – Using SOLIDWORKS CAD already? As our simulation tools are fully embedded within the software, we can provide a greater level of consistency and data integrity than other systems.
