Alitex Case Study - Improving Customer Experience with DriveWorks

Tuesday August 23, 2022 at 11:00am
DriveWorks provides powerful design automation solutions that help to dramatically reduce design times and provide better experiences to customers. Alitex are a U.K. headquartered manufacturer of bespoke greenhouse structures.

Since adopting DriveWorks they have cut their design process time from 40 hours to 20 hours!
Interested? Read on to learn more about how they use DriveWorks and the other benefits it has brought.

The Change

Recently Alitex adopted SOLIDWORKS as they transitioned away from using 2D CAD and began using 3D CAD. This not only helped Alitex to improve the speed and flexibility of their design process but it also allowed them to clearly demonstrate to customers what their products were going to look like by showing them 3D isometric views of their bespoke greenhouse models.

To further streamline their workflow and improve turnaround speed for customers Alitex decided to implement DriveWorks into their design process. DriveWorks is a partner product for SOLIDWORKS that allow you to automate elements of the design process and generate 3D models based on a highly configurable set of rules.

How do Alitex Use DriveWorks

Alitex use DriveWorks to automate the production of SOLIDWORKS models for their Traditional glazing system and their Messenger glazing system.

DriveWorks automatically generates ground plan drawings for each bespoke product. This provides the builder with the information they need to build the base and gives the customer a visual representation of the product they will receive.

Each time a new specification is run, DriveWorks also automatically generates key documentation for the Manufacturing Team to use to manufacture the product. This includes a Bill of Materials, CAM information and drawings

Design process reduced from 40 hours to 20 hours

Saved time can be spent developing new products

The Benefits

Adding DriveWorks to their design process has enabled Alitex to reduce lead times, meaning their customers are receiving their bespoke products faster.

Before using DriveWorks, it would take up to 40 hours to design a small bespoke greenhouse, including checking time. With DriveWorks, they have been able to halve this to just 20 hours. The saved time is spent developing the product and design process to further enhance the customer experience.

Adding DriveWorks has also helped Alitex to build in quality as each configured product is generated from the original SOLIDWORKS master model and drawing.

“Thanks to DriveWorks, we have cut down design time from 40 hours to 20 hours, improving the customer experience to help enhance their decision making process.”

Eliott Dean, Alitex Designer at Alitex Ltd.
