The responsibilities of any successful candidate will include:

• Completing mechanical design of rugged electronic enclosures from concept to batch manufacture
• Ensuring compliance with stringent design requirements in relation to mechanical and visual finish, form factor verification and material performance compliance
• Creating and maintaining 3D Models and 2D Drawings of products for concept presentation, manufacture and marketing
• Review basic tooling for general assembly of plastic mould tools
• Designing the associated test and assembly fixtures
• Selection of materials and components to be used in the designs and supporting the procurement department in order the components
• Verifying the manufactured components align with the design specification and tolerances
• Undertake the first off mechanical build to verify manufacture and production ability
• Liaising with customers and suppliers at various project milestones
• Designing the final foam packaging for the products
• Liaising with Directors and senior staff on project deliverables and department aspirations
• Creating and maintaining BoM structures and manufacturing build guides for production manufacture
• Updating design date from Engineering Change request when required
• Contribute to ensuring lessons learnt in the design, manufacture and test phase are captured and embedded into the organisation

Candidates wishing to apply should have:

• A strong background in the design of injection moulded plastic enclosures along with experience of machined from solid aluminium and sheet formed assemblies.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks
• Ability to achieve project milestones and deadlines on time
• Ability to work comfortably in multi-discipline design team
• Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing techniques
• Competent in the use of MS Office
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Essential

• A minimum of 2 years relevant experience
• Ability to design detail parts & assemblies using plastic mouldings, machined and fabricated metal components
• Proficient use of 3D CAD, preferably Solidworks
• Desirable
• A degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience reviewing tooling for general assembly of plastic mould tools
• Experience in the following design areas:
- Ingress Protection
- EMC Compliance
- Heat Transfer for Electronics
- Vibration Protection
